Welcome to Smithville CRC

Thanks for checking us out! We hope you’ll be able to discover much about us from this site.  One of the easiest ways to find out about us is by joining us on a Sunday morning.  We’d love to meet you!  Got questions?  We hope we can answer some of them for you.
For a more complete understanding of the teachings of the Christian Reformed Church, we invite you to read the creeds and confessions to which we subscribe at our denominational website; www.crcna.org.

When do we meet?

We meet every Sunday morning at 10 am. The service usually lasts about an hour and 15 minutes, with coffee and refreshments available afterwards.  We also offer a second service on most Sundays, either at 3pm (Oct – Apr), or 7pm (May-Sept). It is best to check our events calendar as occasionally there may be changes.

Where do we meet?

You'll Find us at 6522 Smithville Road, just west of Highway #20.

What should we expect on Sunday morning?

You will be welcomed at the main entrance doors by our greeters who can also offer you any guidance.  Once you are ready to enter the worship area, an usher will give you a bulletin outlining our morning’s service, and help you find a seat.  It’s good to come 5-10 minutes before the hour to allow time for you to get settled.

What about our kids?

We warmly welcome your children!  You’ll find we have many young and growing families. A Nursery is available downstairs for children from infants to age 2. A Little Lambs program, geared for children ages 2-3 is offered during the AM service from September to July.  It begins as soon as you arrive at church. It is also located in the lower level of the church. Our morning Sunday School is geared for children ages 3-6.  These children begin the service together with their families and leave the worship area mid-way through the worship time. They are then led through a Bible-based curriculum at their age-specific level of understanding. You can learn more about the children’s programming by following its link.

How should we dress?

Some are relaxed and casual, others prefer to dress up a little. It’s a matter of personal choice.

What is a worship service like?

We come together as a body of believers to encourage one another in faith and to deepen our personal walk with God.  We begin by offering our adoration in a blend of contemporary and traditional music and song, often lead by our Worship Teams. After our opening praises, we also lead together in a time of confession.  We are always assured of the forgiveness offered to us through Jesus Christ.   The children ages 3-6 receive a special children’s talk or a blessing midway through the service, before leaving for their programming.  The central part of our service is the reading of the Bible, followed by a challenging message that helps us to understand and equip us for following Jesus Christ  in our daily lives.  Following the message, a communal prayer is lead for any needs within our church family, as well as in our community and world. There is also an opportunity to give of our financial gifts to a designated cause. We leave with a blessing, and are encouraged to connect with each other over coffee and refreshments downstairs.
